It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved former track and field coach, Coach Larry Wilson, who dedicated an extraordinary 45 years of his life to coaching at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. Coach Wilson left an indelible mark on our community, and his legacy will forever be etched in our hearts.
Coach Wilson, the founding force behind Gwynedd Mercy's Track & Field and Cross Country programs, began his remarkable journey in 1978 under the guidance of GMA's then-Athletic Director, Maria Lutz McHugh ’46. Over four decades, his commitment and passion for coaching young athletes set the standard for excellence, leading our teams to an astonishing 21 Pennsylvania Division AA high school championships, 62 district crowns, and five consecutive State high school Class AA championships for the 4x800-meter relay.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a viewing on Thursday, December 21 from 4-7PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 712 Penllyn Pike, Spring House, PA. A funeral will be held at 10AM the following day at the same location. As we bid farewell to a true legend, we extend our deepest condolences to Coach Wilson's family. Thank you, Coach Wilson, for the beautiful smiles, unwavering support, and countless memories. Your spirit will forever live on in the halls, fields, and hearts of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School. |
